woekiewoekie Posted July 27, 2003 Posted July 27, 2003 I searched the forum for SSL what it actually is and all I found was how to configure it. But I want to know what SSL exactly is and the benefits My host provides an https directory and I made a simple index.html file secure. But there is no certificate. So questions are. Do you need a certificate? What is a certificate? Because I saw you can buy them in different flavours. e.g. for $20 transactions of for $1000. Does that mean that the transaction is insured or something and if yes who is insured? Just your basic type of questions about SSL, thanks in advance for the help
