Okie, I configured my Canadian taxes according to the isntructions in the Contributions area...

1) Provines are not showing up when checking out

2) Only one province's tax is being applied regardless of what province the user is from

Can someone help me please!!!

Well, this (my answer) may be stupid but here it goes.

make sure that you set the tax amount for the zone in which you want to tax some1. This way, when some1 signs up with you and they type in the zone in Canada that you have already set for, then it will tax them on that.

i hope that makes sense. to sum up, jst check to see if you have set up all the zone for which you want to tax some one.

bye.

Ill take a stab at it...

Should have 2 tax zones set up:

GST has Canada as a country, and 'all zones' for the zone.

PST has Canada as a country, and 'your province' for the zone.

2 tax classes, one for charging GST, one for charging GST/PST.

3 tax rates that should look like below:

Prority      Tax Class       Zone     Tax Rate

1              GST/PST      GST        7%

1              GST/PST      PST        7.5%(I'm in BC)

2              GST          GST        7%

And I think that should do it..

The_Bear: Those are the instrucitons I followed...

Mooligan: How does that work with all the other provinces?

I have followed the contrib instructions, but the issue with the person's province not showing up during checkout is the weirdest error.....

This is what is shown:

Andrew Matheson

1234 Main St.

M2J1Z1 Toronto

Canada

There is no province??? Even though it is setup in my profile...I don't get it....

Sorry, I am not sure why it isn't showing the province in the checkout information, someone else might be able to help with that I hope.

What I entered there though does work for actually applying the tax rates to the various different locations.

So long as you apply GST/PST to a product when you enter it, that table above tells it to charge GST to all zones in Canada, and to charge PST to only the one zone specified, in my case BC.

So in your zones, you would change the PST zone to have Canada as a country, and Ontario as a zone - so that PST is only applied to people signed up from Ontario.

You would also adjust the rate accordingly as well.

Not sure what else to say, just double check your zone settings
