Database Backup

I am getting ready to set up USPS methods 2.4 and it recommends backing up my admin and catalog directories and the database. I created a backup directory, it gives me choices of GZIP, ZIP, No compression, any recommendations? When you back up through the backup manager, does that backup everything that it should, or is there more I should backup some other way.

If you have gzip enabled that will work fine
