Error 403 when accessing database - I think?

I have a clean install of Oscommerce MS2 installed and running, my problem is that when you fill in the 'create account' form and then click submit after about 30 secs you get:

 

Error - 403

Failed to read headers returned by server.

Headers were invalid or incomplete.

 

However it has created the account if you now try to login, it seems to be struggling to move on to the next page after the database write?

 

I also get the same error at the very end of my shopping cart when the payment gateway is trying to return to the cart with several variables in the URL...

 

 

Can anyone throw any light on this?
