Major upgrade problems - 2.2ms1 to 2.2ms2

:( 6 hours of searching the forums for similar probs but to no avail:

:x 6 hours of uploading files and directories:

 6 hours of installing a new copy of 2.2ms1:

 6 hours of banging my head against the screen.

:!: Am I being monumentally stupid or somethng?

I had 2.2ms1 successfully installed and working properly. My server is Powweb and they have automated the unpacking of files via their users GUI.

The app isn't (or rather "wasn't") live - I'm still in the playing around stages, but nevertheless, have since lost all my test info/orders etc... (my fault for not doing a backup! ) I successfully did a new install :D via the Powweb interface and all was OK. Having buggered-up the first install, I continued to "bugger-up" the new install by doing the following:

Not having found any info regarding upgrading :!: , I presumed that the contents of the /catalog/ dir (and therefore the /catalog/install/ dir) in the osCommerce-2.2ms2 zip file should be uploaded to the /catalog/ dir on the server. The same for the /admin/ dir.

I then pointed my browser to www.myserver.com/shop/install and followed the instructions for Upgrading. (BTW - is this significant that the upgrade icon says "from The Exchange Project 2.1" ? Thought this was MileStone ! The upgrade.php screen also says "This upgrade procedure will upgrade the The Exchange Project 2.1 database structure to the osCommerce 2.2 Milestone 2 database structure.") Database tested OK :D . Step 3 appeared successful as the screen said Upgrade Address book.....etc.Status: Upgrade Complete.

This is where things start going pear-shaped! This is what appeared on-screen:

Status: Update Complete!

The database upgrade procedure was successful!

Ha! I think not!

There are no buttons either, possibly indicating that the page was not build 100% (or if that's in the design, there's nothing to tell the user that there's nothing else to do. An Exit button or the usual Catalog and Admin buttons would help!)

Even stranger is that in the admin area, under Configuration/My Store, there are certain fields which appear the same number of times I've tried the upgrade!!! :?: eg:"Zone" appears 4 times - 3 times with a value of Nordrhein-Westfalen (upload & upgrade from the zip file) and once with Florida (install via Powweb).

Certain areas of the shopfront work and, understandably, certain areas don't.

So, where do we go from here? I've now got 2 installs (/shoptest/ and /shop/ ) of osCommerce 2.2 milestone 2, neither of which work  .

Any takers for this problem? I can not believe I'm the only one having problems upgrading from 2.2 ms1!?!

Answers on a postcard please, to.......

Thanks in anticipation...

I think that you are using the wrong upgrade. I believe that the upgrade scripts that you want are located in the extras folder.

Good luck,

Thanks for that Matt, but I had already tried the upgrade scripts without success.

Strangely enough, the 2.2ms1.zip file I downloaded from the official site already contained a directory called /pr21_to_pr22/ which I found rather odd!!! How can a progran pre-empt a future release? .....

The only thing worthy of a glimpse in the /extras/ directory is a file called update.php. Click on it and all that appears on-screen is "Select an SQL file to install".

Where to now?

Richard.
