removing the number from categories

how do i edit the 'categories' list on the left side, so that it does not display the number of products in () after each category.

 

I think i need to edit the categories.php file in teh /catalog folder, but am not sure.

in new version of osc it is in the admin side of store

admin/configuration/my store/set "show categorie count" to false

in older installation it is located in catalog/includes/application_top
