Advise needed on changing categories form ?main? to ?sub?

You might find this a dumb question, but I?ll give it a go anyway.

 

We started with our osCommerce shop a month ago, selling DVD?s only. Alle DVD?s were divided into 5 main categories. No subs were used.

 

Now we would like to sell not only DVD?s, but VHS and toys as well (guess what bizz we?re in... :)). This requires a change to the category structure. Our preferred structure is as follows:

 

Main category: DVD

- sub1

- sub2

- etc

Main category: VHS

- sub1

- sub2

- etc

Main category: Toys

- sub1

- sub2

- etc

 

The problem here is that the subs listed under the main category DVD are now main categories themselves.

 

Does anyone knows how we can change this without having to drag/move over 400 products to subs? Is there a contribution that can do this or is it possible to export data from the table, change it offline and them add it again?

Just create a new category, then select an old category and choose the move button on the left panel...
