gshirey Posted July 18, 2003 Posted July 18, 2003 I try to never post such general questions, but really can't seem to find the documentation. I believe I have installed osCommerce correctly, but can't figure out how to develop the page. I can work with the databases and such, just haven't found any documentation on the building the actual pages. I've been all through WIKI and spent lots of time playing around with features. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated, it seems like a great group and great software. Also, does everyone use .php for catalog builds or does anyone create static html with .php code (I would think that would be better for search engine optimization.) Thanking whomever in advance.
xxGeek Posted July 18, 2003 Posted July 18, 2003 I try to never post such general questions, no such thing as a general question, simply if you don't ask you'll never know.. as the creating of webpages,, not sure exactly what you mean do you mean creating product pages ?? :?: or just additional pages like support or faq's ?? :?: Please explain a bit better (don't mind me i'm slow @ times) The more you do, the more you learn
gshirey Posted July 18, 2003 Author Posted July 18, 2003 xxGeek, thank you for your prompt reply. what I have done in the past is build content (teaching curriculum) pages that had products for sale within the pages. Using html and a javascript to the shopping function, I could easily control the look and feel of my content pages but also have products for sale. So two more specific questions. A.) Is the above scenario possible with osCommerce? And how? B.) Where can I find documentation on developing the types of "product" pages that I see on most of the sites built by osCommerce? Thanks in advance.
xxGeek Posted July 18, 2003 Posted July 18, 2003 you really dont need any documentation just adding a product will automaticly create a product page you may include as much information as you need by adding it to the product description field which inturn displays it on the product_info.php,, most of this is done through your admin section of OSC and i don't know of any documentation for that i'm sure there is something out there just never looked for it before Hope this helps you in some way,,,,, The more you do, the more you learn
