backup - set permissions for files

To keep my local version of my shops synchronised with the "live" versions I want to download the backup from the server and restore it on my system.

 

I'm having no luck with using phpMyAdmin for this process and the backup works far easier when going local > remote anyway.

 

However I do not have permissions to access the gzipped files in the backup directory.

 

Where would I need to put a chmod in backup.php to grant me enough access to download via FTP?

 

I'm using french_dev's modified backup.php - http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=47617 if that makes a difference.
