i need help with some shipping

i am shipping to canada and us only

so first off i think i need to find a zone rates table to look at

i want to set up shipping so that depending on weight and location of delivery is will automatically append the cost based on the information i put in oscommerce.

now what is this information i need to put in?

please tell me if zone rates calculates anything other than this i put in the form box - > 5:5.40,10:6.40,15:8.50,20:11.50,25:12.50,30:13.40,14:15.10

does it need anything else? like weight?> like location?

-------

Zone 1 Countries

Comma separated list of two character ISO country codes that are part of Zone 1. (US,CA)

what does that mean? and what does it do?

-------

all i want to do is to make a table as (5:5.40,10:6.40,15:8.50,20:11.50,25:12.50,30:13.40,14:15.10) for example, that will add on to the check out . it does that and works.

my understanding of zone rate is that it uses a table such as above and tacks that on to the check out ( dont i need the location of the US state also? i mean isnt that needed in order to calculate proper shipping?)

but i cant even find a zone rate table - i am shipping from pensylvania and im looking for a zone table. Is the US 48 states ZONE 1? i saw 8 zones, what are they?

im Zoned out help me please.

Zone 1 defines the country:

Zone 1 Countries

Comma separated list of two character ISO country codes that are part of Zone 1. (US,CA)

what does that mean? and what does it do?

in this case, US = United States (and) CA (Canada). you plug in the country code into the field for that particular zone. so this is a "location" field.

please tell me if zone rates calculates anything other than this i put in the form box - > 5:5.40,10:6.40,15:8.50,20:11.50,25:12.50,30:13.40,14:15.10

does it need anything else? like weight?> like location?

this is weight applied to that zone. 5=5lbs. 5.40 = $5.40 . they are linked together by the ':" so 5:5.40 is the equivalent of "anything 5lbs ordered (you assign weight to particulare item) will have a shipping charge of $5.40. you can change the weight and price, but be consistant and always keep a backup of the charges on your favorite text editor. every time you active/deactive the module, it erases the data you have input. hope this helps. :)

note: you can add zones. if you need to know how i can try to email you the link that explains it quite well in the wiki documentation.

hey thanks,

yes i would like to add zones,

but let me clear one thing first.

where i ship from is zone 1 correct?

5:5.40

upto and including 5lbs = $5.40 , yes?

so zone 1 does not define a section of states in the us?

i thought zonerates take into consideration where the package arrives also to estimate a better shipping cost? but if zone 1 is all the usa then i wont need more zones, and if the us is only 1 zome than easier for me :D

please get back thanks

also, i dont know what wikiwiki is

zone 1 defines shipping cost for US or whatever country you choose to put in there as a "zone". where you ship from is not an issue for that table.

on the 5:5.50 upto and including 5lbs., i should round up to 5 lbs. yes.

zone 1 defines a country. some do it by state. i think that is another module you would download. i have read a little about it on the forums, but not used it.

wiki is the documentation section on the forum. a little confusing sometimes for newbies. It is right above "Legal Issues". i scan the entire forum for answers and post a lot of questions, but wiki as proved an okay resourse.
