bensonh
I installed the default shop and everything is fine. Whenever I go to the admin area and delete a category.. actually.. i have deleted ALL of the categories.. I have even gone into mySQL and emptied the categories table.. however.. the categories still show up! Same with manufacturers.. Can anyone tell me what is going on here? I can add a new category and it will show up .. but it is mixed in with the default categories.. the behavior is very strange. If I click on one of the "ghost" categories It even goes to that category with no products in it. Can anyone help? :?:

Guest
I think I figured out my own problem thanks to 10-12 hours reading through all the other Forum Help Topics. I'm sorry that I didn't grab a hotlink to it, but it did work. One of my problems was that since I was using a third-party server, OS-commerce was installed elsewhere on the server. Originally, I didn't think that was a problem till I read it on the other topic. The Solution is to re-name your temp files to a personalized name (something different than just *_temp* . Oscommerce will if it finds itself elsewhere on the server use that data instead of your own. Hopefully this might work for you!
Guest
Hi everybody!!! Consider that this help topic will be read in the future i came to confirm the above. I´m a webhosting provider and i have a full OSC working on W2K3+PHP+MySQL without problems until catch this extrange behavior too. In my server i have the "temp" directory selected "on" from my OSC admin area and just a detail: In the PHP temp directory (php.ini) configured by me is allow to write from internet users sessions. If you have your temp diretory in the OCS admin area selected on you'll got this behavior so turn it off util you get what you want and last, turn on. Doubts about IIS+PHP+MYSql contact me for exchage experiences. Kind / Saludos / Cordialidades apassos

I have searched my osC files and folders and cannot find any with the temp name or temp in the name. I did find a Temp folder in my website's root folder (where osC folder is) but renaming it made no difference. My osC is installed "in the root which is better" I am told and "therefore" I have no Catalog folder. Is this in any way related to my other problem of my Shipping and Payment modules not saving edit changes??? Many Thanks, Vernon Sparks
