kiwimagic
Hi All, I installed Milestone 2 - 4 days ago, and the site seemed super fast, loading very quickly. The last 2 days, the server seemed very slow at times, and indeed shut down several times. I had no idea that my site with Milestone 2 was to blame, until I got this mail from my hosting company. It reads: "Your shared hosting account, #1870, for <mysite.com> has been set to Suspended-And Pending Deletion for the reason: Overloading the server with PHP scripts." The server is running with this configuration: HTTP Server: Apache/1.3.27 (Unix) (Red-Hat/Linux) mod_perl/1.26 PHP/4.2.2 FrontPage/5.0.2 mod_ssl/2.8.12 OpenSSL/0.9.6b PHP Version: 4.2.2 (Zend: 1.2.0) At the end of the day, the hosting company agreed to re-open access to my site so I could disable Milestone 2.2. I had to reload my old site, based on a CVS version prior to Milestone 1, which does not seem to affect the server in any adverse way. Apparently, every shared hosting account on my server was affected (280) with many not receiving emails etc etc. It was apparently a real smoz. I would really like to use Milestone 2 as it seemed to go like a rocket, but the company said that according to the scale of normal server load which they measured at .2 (by whatever factor they use) when Milestone 2 was running on my site, the server load was 16!! executing php scripts like crazy. I thought I would pass this information along to the development team, and really, would like to get to the bottom of the problem, as I think Milestone 2 is just fabulous. It was so much faster than my previous configuration it was unbelievable. If someone could point me in the right direction, I would be most appreciative, as I would really like to get Milestone 2 operational again. Your comments would be most appreciated. kiwimagic
Hi, Just a follow up, I just had another chat with my hosting company, and they seem to think it has something to do with persistent connections?? The person was watching my old site operate after I reloaded it and took Milestone 2 offline (the pre Milestone CVS version) and said that the connections appeared to be opening and closing correctly, unlike the Milestone 2 version which was not closing. In my config setting for Milestone 2 I had this value set correctly] define('USE_PCONNECT', 'false'); // use persistent connections? So I can't say this was the problem. Any ideas would be appreciated. Regards David
