The yellow you've chosen for the infoboxes is lame. Doesn't go with the logo at all (which is quite nice). Makes the site look boring IMHO.

You should remove the categories count it would make it a little faster

Your create account loads ok but in my navigation bar it says

done but with errors

You dont seem to have a ssl certificate and I for one would not give my personal info on a non-secure site

Well I?m trying to keep the softest, less prominent colours possible, as for the customer should be paying attention to the artwork itself.

zaq, what colours would you use instead? All I can think is maybe a light blue, seeing as there is blue in the logo. I think the reddish text goes well with the logo.

If you think not, please say!

Does the yellow annoy anyone else? :?:

Works fine for me. However, I would change the background color of the create account fields to match your site.

Thanks again DubZ28, that has been nagging thought in my mind for a while,

I get an error entering create_account.php (syntax error line 114).

Is anyone else getting this? or know why it seems to happen only occasionally? :?

Hi The_Bear, thanks for that, categories count? do you mean the number of categories in the left column?

ahh thanks for that, i was a little confused by what you said, but i see now, its because it has to query the database for all products, therefore taking longer to load.. Am I right?

Also, the cache option, should I have that on? And how can I flush the contents of it? as it was on once, and when I updated the site it was still using what the cache has saved. Does that make any sense?

cheers

Something with the yellow color and the size of the bars. I would have the header larger.

Also as you are selling art I would have a few serious artists take a look at it and give you pointers. Also art buyers.

Don?t like the logo. But the icons up in the right corner are in the right direction.

p.s. yello is a known color in advertising as suggesting a low price. A question if that is the thing you want to have radiating from your site.

Hope I?m not too negative

very interesting point, are there any resouces out there for that?

I'd like to know what others think of the logo, as so far i'm getting quite different opinions.. I like the logo my self, as its made up from real paintings, with a slight Cornish feel (if you look carefully you'll see seagulls and a boat in there)

I'm thinking of changing the light yellow to a light blue... what do you all think of that?

I have taken a look at your site and I think the yellow looks fine. I would allow some space in the header between the haeder and the edge of the page becasue it looks crowded. I ddo like your icons. They look sharp. BTW , how can you tell if a site is secure? Someone mentioned it earlier in one of thte replies? :D

your browser will usually bring up a message before entering a secure page, unless you instruct it not to.

I would explain more in about how to find art using the boxes on the left. That sentence leaves you hanging.... :)

The graphics in the header are interesting, but unless you have your own osc store you won't know what they are for. They need text on them or under them. If it's there, it doesn't show up.

It's a little distracting on the main page seeing 2 different "logos" The one in the header and the one that is welcoming you to the site.

"Ripples" - Free Wallpaper ?0.00

Free Scenic Wallpaper by Dave Martin.

Size 1024x768. Taken at Trevarno, Helston, Cornwall.

Enlarge the image, right click and select "set as background

There isn't any place to click to enlarge, and the image is very large on the page. You need to clarify that the image needs to be clicked on to enlarge, and you need the photo on that page to be smaller. It needs to fit on a 800x600 page, it doesn't even fit on a 1024x768 :)

Personally, I don't like red text or white backgrounds. I would prefer to see an offwhite, tan or canvas type of background. White is harsh and isn't flattering for many of your photos.

I do like the artist profile at the bottom of each product info page, is that a contribution that you installed?

I hope you are taking advantage of the free backgrounds you are offering by submitting those pages to some of the multitude of freebie sites :)

I know how hard it is to do what you are attempting to do, I have been working for 3 years to create an art gallery site for my photography. I'm close, but still not happy yet. I am working with osc and with gallery software to try and get the kind of control and image display that I want.

You have a good beginning on a showcase site.
