help setting up credit card

I have a shopping cart ready to go, the client will process their credit cards manually, which means the standard credit card setup, however I am having problems setting up the credit card module.

1. Is there somwhere where I can find instructions on the steps to get the default credit card module working?

2. Does the credit card module have to be setup on both the secure and non-secure server?
