Does the "RRP" or "Recommended Retail Price" have any purpose?

RRP is basically the same thing as MSRP

Recommended Retail Price = Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price

Is there any functionality that shows the RRP for a product? I don't see any widget that shows RRP or shows how much cheaper a product is priced lower than RRP.
