Remove product from a category?

Hi, and pardon my inexperience, please. Is there a way to remove a product from a category after it has been assigned to multiple categories? See the attached screenshot. I want to remove the categories circled in red. I searched high and low but couldn't find a way to do this. Thank you in advance for helping.

Hi Joseph,

Not sure if it is a single product or category you want to delete or both.

If you want to delete a product, select from the dashboard, "Products/Categorizes > "Products (Brands/categories) >

click your was through the categories to where the product you want to delete is... left click once on the product and select delete from the right column.  You can select as many as wanted by clicking the little box to the left on each product and then choosing "delete all selected" in the right column.

Deleting a category is done the same way just don't dbl click to enter it.

I am not sure how the data base deals with the products in specific categories that are deleted, I'm thinking they will remain

in the data base which could be what you want or not.

If the product is no longer needed delete all the product first you do not need.

Explain further if more help is needed.

Hi Kenneth. Thank you for your quick response. I don't want to delete the product or the category. I want to remove the product from the 3 categories as marked on the attached screenshot and keep the product in the "blankets" category only. If I try to delete the product, it asks me if I'm sure, and shows the product and categories with white boxes in front of them, but the boxes can't be selected. If you delete the product from one category, it deletes the product from the other categories and inventory.

Wording can sure complicate things🙂, what are you meaning by remove? delete, move elsewhere?

 

When you click delete you can select what categories to delete product from by leaving that location check marked.

Alternately, unchecking the categories keep the product there.

Hi again. I did have the white boxes but they were unclickable. These products were imported from the first Oscommerce site I did and I suspect they somehow got corrupted in the DB. Since so much time was spent trying to resolve this,   I ended up deleting/re-adding them and now they are behaving. Thank you again for your assistance.
