Just an opinion and some help

I set my site up with the SSL that is available with my hosting. Basically, when someone goes to checkout or login, the address looks like https://secure.hostingcompayname.com/~mysit...me/blahblahblah. Will this make people feel safer ordering from me or make me look less professional?

Also, when enabling 2Checkout, the default is to put the credit card enter info on the site. When that is done on your own website, would the customer still be required to enter that info on 2Checkouts site or does the customer even get sent there?

Thanks!

The short answer is Yes.

Some user's do not look at the address bar but the logo at the top of the page and the gold padlock and so that will not matter.

With the increasing awareness of users shopping online, most are becoming more "sceptical" and cautious. If they see the slightest thing askew then they will move on.

You can obtain an SSL cert from InstantSSL for under $50US.

I cannot help you out on that one.

For 2 checkout - they enter the info on your site and when they are passed to 2checkout the info shoud pass as well.

As for the hosting - can't your hosting company fix it so the link aliases your company - it will look more professional as some shoppers get a little leery of extended links that seem to take them to subsites.

Just my 2 cents

No, I don't believe they can alias my domain name. It's pretty cheap hosting, I pay about $15 bucks a month for a reseller account because I have my sites and maintain a site for a client.

I may consider moving the actual business to a new provider so that I can the needed feature. Should I remove the secure thing then? I, at this time, don't have the customer enter their CC info on my site. The only incecure thing would be their name and address etc.

Since the customer would be entering their information on 2Checkout's secure server then you do not have to have SSL enabled.

Some people want to see the gold padlock when they are entering their names but most only care about it when they are entering their CC information.
