New Site - First attempt at PHP and OSC Modding

Hi,

Just got enough courage to post my site link here, this is a site I have been developing for six months now.

Needs some work but its functional and the standard layout fits the intended audience well - I will be over the course of time modifying the site until it looks more professional but for now this will do.

Heres the link http://www.dappamobiles.com

The site is almost complete but I still need to add a few touches:

1. Couple of boxes to display a mini shoutbox (uses html and cgi with redirect to update the box)

2. Graphics, there are still allot of old OSC images in there that need removing or updating; buttons are experimental at the moment, I am looking into Java Roll-Over buttons - once I workout how to do this

3. Features, still need to put a SMS login box and Ring-Tone/Logo section

I haven't done too bad so far seeing as my knowledge of PHP six months ago was zero, no seriously. It took me a few weeks to workout how OSC was put together but once I worked out which files go where I was well on my way - the site is heavily modified, I am using around 15 mods from the contributions section, some visible others not so visible.

Managed to workout how to get Flash to work on the site..

All feedback appriecated - I have a tough skin!

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/dappamob/public_html/eshop/includes/languages/english.php:341) in /home/dappamob/public_html/eshop/includes/functions/general.php on line 29

Check the end of your ../includes/languages/english.php file for spaces.. That's what happens to me when I accidentally get spaces at the bottom of the file..

Thanks for the feedback,

Yeah I have been getting a few of these lately, I think its a combination of uploading the files and our hosting server not reading the files correctly - the files start off okay on the development server but as soon as I upload them there are extra spaces at the bottom of the files.

Thanks again,

Taz

nice site, very clean and easy to understand.

I often find looking at other shops in realtion to mine www.interbikes.com

So I would look at motorcycle shops and try to develop ideas from there. They have years of marketing schemes behind them, so why not use them :D

Roger,

Thanks for the feedback regarding the browser issue.

We will be testing screen sizes tomorrow so this should be fixed.

InterBikes, cool site, I like the bikes! - I had a Daytona 955 last year for few months while my pal was on holiday, I had never ridden anything over 250cc so this bike was amazing - scared the hell out of me but I loved it until I fell off..

Thanks,

Taz

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback, yeah the front page is just temporary while we develop the Macromedia Flash intro sequence.

Will having Flash also affect the google results? I know OSC doesn't use an index file so would creating a standard index.html file that redirects the browser to default.php affect the search index?

The Flash Intro will consist of an index.html file (with all the keywords etc in place in the meta tags) and two links, one for the flash intro and the other to skip the intro and go to the default.php file.

I could always rename the default.php file to index.php but would this affect the functionality of the site (I think I have to change the application_top.php definition for FILENAME_DEFAULT to point to the correct file - index.php).

Thanks,

Taz

Get rid of the marquee that is tied to the mouse. It is very annoying and caused me to leave the site right away.

Awana Grand Prix and Pinewood Derby racing - Where a child, an adult and a small block of wood combine for a lot of fun and memories.
