Making Contributions easy to install

Recommended Posts

Sure, check out how payment and shipping modules work. Or InfoBoxes. The problem is that most of what contributions do involves adding options to existing code. Not adding entirely new modules.

Good luck,

Matt

Could it be we make a few patches that could be run on the original code with a set of contrabutions ie

all the extras is loaded 5 make a script that newbees can run that would do the coversion.

and i am shure that there are other sets that could be put into a patch script 2 work with or without another block of patches what i hate when i am adding a contrabution to a shop is the tought that there are thousands of people doing the same thing

woulld it not be nicer to have contrabutions added the old way and when they have proved themselves a patch script be riten 4 them

Just an idea

Any one else :?:

Next i propose we do it on a country baced system ie:

Patches

1) am in the UK

so the patch should include an SQL set to sort out the tax and shipping there are a few more i know about and few i am shure i dont

2)then you have a set of defaut mods ie Git Vouchers Discount cops....etc

which are not country based.

3)any extra mods that are only useful for one type of website of another

if anyone is intrested plase leave your ideas here of what mods should be used and in which cat 1,2 or 3

any one intrested in working on the projrct i will setup a test bed we can work on

I've found that most contributions are relatively easy to work, and I've done carts for UK and US based businesses (I'm in Australia), but I can't work that Wishlist out for the life of me!

Life would be too easy if everything was that simple..

wizardsandwars i am not propsing doing it my self but more as a group

we need people to come up with a list of mods that should be in a patch

we nedd some devs, doc writers, and beta tests who what to help nothing like

this should b undertaken lightly if it is going to work properly. the guys who are working on this my end are looking at the pros an cons the are some of the best devs out there but they are new to osc and e-commerce most are no the dev team of freebsd

Oh, I see. Well, that's disappointing.

Anyway, if you are interested in the direction that OSC as a group is taking, then you should check out the workboard,

http://www.oscommerce.com/community/workboard

and the weekly summary reports

http://www.oscommerce.com/community/weekly

That will give you an idea of what the current dev team has on its plate.

wizardsandwars everthing must start somewere we are working on it but a little help help and input would be helpful input is the most important as i personaly have only set up osc with the few mods and hack and there are load to choose from and some work with others and others dont i need to know all of this or shold i say WE hopfully

so Please start posting a list of good mods

and if any one is up for it send me the complete working shop with loads of mods built in the we will compare the source of that to the source of the distrbution and build a script that would change ms1 ie into loaded 5 this saves

but if u have not or will not part with your shop script then the names of good mods would be greatly appreciated

hope to hear from all of U
