upload file with product description

has anyone figured out how to do the following:

 

1. upload a file with the product description to the download folder

 

&

 

2. autmatically set the product attribute to make it a download once the customer checks out as opposed to going through product attribute, choosing it from the list etc....

 

 

at the very least uploading the file with the description would be a good start

I cant even get the download folder to work! should it have permissions or where should it be? Do you know
