Guest Posted July 8, 2003 Share Posted July 8, 2003 Binary mode transfers the exact file without making any changes. Text (ASCII) mode can cause new lines to be replaced with the carriage return/line feed combination or vice versa. This is because Unix (LF), DOS (CRLF), and MacOS (CR) have tradtionally marked the end of a line differently. I use binary mode exclusively unless I find a problem. YMMV.
