help with new products showing in new product box

Please could anyone tell how i can prevent stock items automatically showing up in the new products section?

New products run off the date entered, on a rotating base. Enter the ones you do not want shown, a couple of days before the others, or turn them off , as products not available, in the cart, product catagorie page.

Other than that, possible you can can the date in my php,
