meandrew Posted July 6, 2003 Posted July 6, 2003 Hi All I am trying to work out if it is possible to list seminars and allow users 'account holders' to book a seminar? I could add seminars as a product I guess and that wouldn't be a problem. However, I was wondering if I wanted to allow the user to download a document associated with the event could that be possible, a timetable type of document. Actually changing the topic slightly is it possible to make a product a downloadable file such a s pdf or word document? Andrew
Guest Posted July 6, 2003 Posted July 6, 2003 Actually changing the topic slightly is it possible to make a product a downloadable file such a s pdf or word document?Yes. Downloads are integrated into newer versions of OSC. You have to turn them on in admin, then you need to add a new attribute to the product with the download characteristic. Good luck, Matt
meandrew Posted July 6, 2003 Author Posted July 6, 2003 thanks for that Matt when you say newer versions are your referring to a recent snapshot? If so will upgrading a my install MS2.2 be destroyed? I have added quite a few chnages and added the articles cms Andrew
Guest Posted July 6, 2003 Posted July 6, 2003 This was originally a contribution, so if you want to add it to an older version that does not come with it, you can. Good luck, Matt
meandrew Posted July 6, 2003 Author Posted July 6, 2003 I'll give that a go then :) which contribution is it called? Funny thing is that I read something earlier today about this problem of having contributions that dont follow the ongong development :( Andrew
meandrew Posted July 6, 2003 Author Posted July 6, 2003 I've just looked in the features and the others categories and I couldn't anything that resembled this contribution, do you know what its called? Andrew
Guest Posted July 6, 2003 Posted July 6, 2003 No. Looked at 2.2MS1 though, and it is already included by then (perhaps I simply saw a contribution talking about it). This is a pretty old add apparently, since I found this from over a year ago. Good luck, Matt
osCfan Posted July 7, 2003 Posted July 7, 2003 I haven't checked out the download feature yet...but can someone tell me what does the download feature do? :? Steve
Guest Posted July 7, 2003 Posted July 7, 2003 It allows you to sell a product that is downloadable (i.e. does not need to be shipped). Part of what the code does is to create a download link, so people can actually get their product. --Matt
meandrew Posted July 7, 2003 Author Posted July 7, 2003 what is the feature called in the contributions? Andrew
Guest Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 The download feature is already a part of osc. Also you could integrate an events calendar that would show the dates the seminars are scheduled with a link to the product info page and from there a signup button to signup. Here is the calendar - http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1061 Set the downloadable file as an attriibute of the seminar
meandrew Posted July 8, 2003 Author Posted July 8, 2003 Sorry I found the download true/false and have played around with and didn't get it to work so I'll do a search in the general area. I may have a path problem as there is an error message saying I need to crreate a dir download, which does exist! Thank you to all who responded :) Andrew
Guest Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 Go toyour pub directory and create the download directory there
