Sharon123 Posted July 2, 2003 Posted July 2, 2003 Hi I am building a shop where the contents is for "Dealers only" and the general public can not see the prices. What would be the easiest way to approach this? Sharon  I know more than I did yesterday...If thats any help!
hankfrid Posted July 2, 2003 Posted July 2, 2003 Sharon; Look thru the contributions. I know there is at least one contribution for having separate pricing by customer. I believe you set up customer classes and based on the class of customer, you display different pricing. You could use something like that to have normal customers logging in to only see zero prices and your dealers would get assigned a special class to show the prices to them. Then you would just have to assigned that dealer class to your dealer customer records. Hope that helps. Look for "Separate pricing by Customer" in the Contributions. HankFrid If I build it...they will come. If I don't try to build it.....I will never know!
Sharon123 Posted July 5, 2003 Author Posted July 5, 2003 Sorry I should have been more specific :? The site that I am building is for dealers only, therefore there will be no general public looking at it. Can I have an entry page that is seperate from the main site with a login box for them to enter and once they have entered the correct password they are then redirected to the catalog? If so what would be the best way to do this. Your input would be appreciated  Sharon I know more than I did yesterday...If thats any help!
burt Posted July 5, 2003 Posted July 5, 2003 .htaccess & .htpasswd - set up a password protected site and give the password to the dealers. Basically exactly the same as password protecting your Admin Area.
Sharon123 Posted July 5, 2003 Author Posted July 5, 2003 Thanks Can it be, that they log in using there password for the shop? So once they have completed there entry they will be forwarded to the catalog to see the standard msg "welcome back whoever" Sharon I know more than I did yesterday...If thats any help!
Sharon123 Posted July 5, 2003 Author Posted July 5, 2003 Hi With htaccess & htpasswd, they would have to login twice :? Is that correct? It would be better if they loged in only once. Sharon  I know more than I did yesterday...If thats any help!
hankfrid Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 I go back to my original idea. HankFrid If I build it...they will come. If I don't try to build it.....I will never know!
