RPettyJr Posted July 2, 2003 Posted July 2, 2003 I have just customized osCommerce and I believe it is pretty slick. Please review and return constructive criticism. I plan to start advertising my web hosting and web design company in 2 weeks, but I want to make sure the site is "pretty enough" first. http://www.dilperhosting.com Roger [email protected]
jaysin Posted July 2, 2003 Posted July 2, 2003 nice site and like your colors too! your infoboxes are way to big in product like in here http://www.dilperhosting.com/site/product_...&products_id=44 and that is because of tell a friend button try using small button.
RPettyJr Posted July 2, 2003 Author Posted July 2, 2003 I thanks http://www.elbavarowebdesign.de/ for all the cool silver buttons. However, I shouldn't have changed the quick_find and tell a friend buttons because they lie within infoboxes. I also have to give credit to the person who add the infobox mod so that you can customize your infoboxes, and the person who added the domain search mod that I also use in this implementation. tobz Posted July 2, 2003 Posted July 2, 2003 One thing I noticed, if you go to your specials page and click the add to cart or more info buttons, it doesn't work because the product ID is not getting passed in the URL :( tobz osCommerce Links osCommerce Templates osCommerce UK <-- This site is for sale!
Guest Posted July 3, 2003 Posted July 3, 2003 Personally, I don't think your infoboxes even come close to matching the rest of the site. Too much attempt at 3d that makes them look goofy IMHO.
RPettyJr Posted July 3, 2003 Author Posted July 3, 2003 One thing I noticed, if you go to your specials page and click the add to cart or more info buttons, it doesn't work because the product ID is not getting passed in the URL :( I had a typo in the same of the resultset variable. Thanks I would have never tested it.
Guest Posted July 3, 2003 Posted July 3, 2003 Ah! Monster templates! The links at the bottom - design, hosting & Ecommerce all take me to the same page: Site Management. The flash at the bottome drives me nuts after a couple of minutes - can't it loop once? Those info boxes look inflatable! They also load slowly for some reason... Ah well, the blue background is a 28Kb bitmap - this could just be a specified colour of a 0.5Kb gif. There are other bitmaps in there too.

RPettyJr Posted July 3, 2003 Author Posted July 3, 2003 Thanks Paul B. Is there a software tool to generate the statistics that you generated? Roger
Guest Posted July 3, 2003 Posted July 3, 2003 Thanks Paul B. Is there a software tool to generate the statistics that you generated? Roger Yes there are a few websites - try this: http://www.submitplus.com/freeprograms.php?b=loadtest See also Bravenet.com for search engine readiness etc.
RPettyJr Posted July 3, 2003 Author Posted July 3, 2003 I took the flash out of the site. The links actually did not take you anywhere, they pointed to "#" so you stayed on whatever page you were on at the time. However, I went ahead and took it for load time concerns and the fact that it was and after thought and doesn't add anything to the site. Roger
RPettyJr Posted July 3, 2003 Author Posted July 3, 2003 Thanks for the information. The testing tool is great. I changed the way my Infoboxes were being created and I have the image size in half. Tonight I will work to minimize the graphics that I use and get within a respectible speed.
emiliano Posted July 3, 2003 Posted July 3, 2003 Delete the spanish language... and as someone said.. your infoboxes are way to big cheers emiliano patagonia, argentina
