mendoh
Hello everyone. I am trying to set up a carousel banner on homepage, however, although I can manage both the single banner and group banner add, still I cannot understand how the various parameters inside the banner group manager: https://www.oscommerce.com/wiki/images/thumb/5/52/1132_Banner_Groups_Edit.jpg/800px-1132_Banner_Groups_Edit.jpg interact with each other and reflect on the carousel banner. The manual/wiki does not say much about that. As a result, I could only get a shrinked image which, instead of correctly stretching over the full banner size, only occupies a fraction of each banner in the carousel, as follows: Anybody willing to help? Thank you

Dear Ivan, I have upgraded to the latest OSCv4 version and the banner manager window has actually changed, however, the results I am getting with the carousel banner are the same as before: large, rectangular banner pictures get shrinked down to a badly resized image which only occupies a small portion of the whole available banner size. Where am I going wrong? Thank you Mendoh

We will check Lazy load image function further and make the required fix in the next version if necessary. Best regards, Ivan

Ivan, many thanks, that actually solved my issue! I have got one more question, though. I have noticed that: the text editor aside the banner picture fails to display the text I am adding (i.e.: I write some text and it is saved to memory, however, the same text does not show superimposed on its respective banner); if I try to add a link to the text, I can actually choose between http or https option, however, the editor window will not let me input any URL address: the URL window simply appears not to accept any input (i.e.. no cursor). Could you please check on that and let me know whether I am doing something wrong or it is another issue? Thanks again! Mendoh

We checked and as far as we can see you already managed to make the text display on your banner. 2. We tried it from our end and it works as it should. Could you please provide us with the screenshot to demonstrate the issue you faced? Best regards, Ivan

mendoh
As long as properly setting up the banners is concerned, I am still roaming in the dark... ...owing to the previously reported "Mobile vs Desktop interference issue" and the other ones, of which this: is a visual example. The URL box will not accept ANY input. Not even the cursor blinking inside it...

Could you please try in another browser to see if it will resolve this issue? Hello Ivan, unfortunately the URL issue stays. Since it persists on Chrome, I have tried to follow your advice and switch to Firefox: it got even worse in this case. On Firefox, not only I have the very same issue but also, if I click on the drop-down window to choose https instead of http, it will only let me see the drop-down window for a split-second and go away with no chance for me to fix it into position, not even by clicking on it and holding my click. Once again the URL window cannot be accessed not even by the cursor. Last but not least, I am going crazy with this: each and every time I visit Themes/watch3 mobile, then try to customize the desktop version of the same watch3 theme, the destktop version will immediately pick up the mobile layout: this is happening on a regular basis. Logging out then logging in again will not change a thing. If I stop working on the site and come back a day or two later, then everything appears to be back to normal...until the next time I will access the mobile version before the desktop one!! Also I have noticed that despite changing the OSCOMMERCE V4 logo on mobile homepage with my site logo, the Theme preview at Themes/watch/mobile ALWAYS shows the old OSCOMMERCE V4 logo. Likewise, a favicon.ico file has been uploaded to Themes/watch/desktop and despite having been saved, it never shows up on the browser tab, sometimes the OSCv4 favicon shows up instead. 😭

mendoh
One more about those banner writings: on both browsers I still cannot have any writings appear with their respective banners and the fact that only one of the four banners actually displays text in blue, while the remaining three banners show nothing despite they all have text in admin, just drives me crazy. 😡

Or, to be on the safe side, change the language on the browser to English since according to your screenshot it is not English in your popup image. It should work with any languages through. This issue is connected with the old template in the theme so the new template will be if the new banner is added. Please see the screenshot below. Or you can switch to the edit mode (expert) on the old banner. Best regards, Ivan
mendoh
3 hours ago, Ivan Holbi said: This issue has been fixed now. Dear Ivan, thanks for your kind reply and suggestions. I was actually able to solve the issue related to the banner image not retaining and displaying any text by following your advice, i.e.: swtiching to "Expert" editing mode. However, the impossibility of adding any link under any text in the FCK editor window, as previously reported and caused by the impossibility of inputting any link URL into the URL box aside the http:// box, still remains. On top of that, I also discovered a new issue: in any banner editing window, if I try to add any type of url to "Banner URL" and tick "open link in new tab", the editing will not finalize and I get this: on a regular basis. Any ideas on how to solve the above two remaining issues? Thank you very much Mendoh

Ivan, I have discovered that the issue with the http/https link I reported above actually seems to be native to the e-commerce engine. Tests performed on a fresh 4.11.55722 install showed that: no link can be inserted from the pop-up banner editing window(s) you get from Design & CMS->YourTheme->Customize->edit Widget/Banner links can actually be inserted correctly if banner modifications take place from MyMarketingTools->Banner Manager-> edit Banner.
