In OSCommerce 4.8, configurable products can be created by using the "Option Type" feature. Here's how:

Go to the "Modules" section of the admin panel and select "Option Types."

Click on the "New Option Type" button and enter a name for the option type, such as "Color" or "Size."

Click on the "New Value" button and enter the different options for the option type, such as "Red," "Blue," "Green" for the "Color" option type.

Go to the "Modules" section of the admin panel and select "Product Attributes."

Click on the "New Product Attribute" button and enter a name for the attribute, such as "Size" or "Color."

Select the option type that you created in step 2 from the dropdown menu.

Click on the "New Value" button and enter the different options for the attribute, such as "Small," "Medium," "Large" for the "Size" attribute.

Go to the "Modules" section of the admin panel and select "Products."

Click on the "New Product" button and enter the basic information for the product.

Scroll down to the "Product Attributes" section and select the attribute that you created in step 5.

Select the options that you created in step 7 and enter the corresponding prices.

You can group products by using the "Product Groups" feature in the "Modules" section of the admin panel. To create a new product group, click on the "New Product Group" button and enter a name for the group. Then, assign products to that group by editing the products and selecting the group from the dropdown menu in the "Product Groups" section.
