osCommerce-Official
In no particular order, reason number 8 - osCommerce supports multiple sale channels. What is a Sale Channel? It is a web site. It is a mobile version of the website. It is the marketplace. It is your YouTube channel, your newsletter, your Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn. So how does osCommerce support Sale channels? First of all, it can support multiple websites, managed from the same back end. Each of those websites (front ends) can have its own URL, design, content, products, prices, payment and shipping methods, etc. Act as a whole independent website but still be managed from the same back end as yet another osCommerce front end. Then, it supports "virtual" sale channels, like Affiliates or resellers. Each of those can be issued with a unique ID to track visitors and orders coming from it. Put the link to the site with that ID in it into any link you post on YouTube or embed into a game, post on Facebook or Twitter - and it is done!A sale channel is also a marketplace like Amazon or eBay. osCommerce comes prepared for integration with Amazon, eBay, CDiscount, and some others. Special apps are needed for that, but it is easily possible already! This delivers a so called "omni channel experience", i.e. when users can access the same products and the same deals across multiple sale channels that the business is using. Isn't it great?
