So, osCommerce is designed to be mobile friendly out the box. Super important, of course. Each design theme has a special, optional, mobile version. You don't have to have it, but you can have it if you like. And if you don't - that's fine. Responsive design is the feature that is built it. You can set different dimensions per theme, and configure behaviour of particular widgets for each of the dimensions. Besides that there's page load speed.
