osCommerce-Official Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Day 6 of posting my thoughts on why osCommerce is a great Ecommerce solution for business to use it switch to. Today I would like to share my thoughts on the content and design. So, for years, Ecommerce and content, Ecommerce and design were separate things. You'd have the main website and then you'd have the catalog, shopping cart, checkout. The latter - sometimes with different simpler design from the main website. Two completely different, independent systems. Well, not anymore with osCommerce. We have made things right. First of all, we have fully separated design from the database and the code. Then, we created new visual editor where design can be edited. Any page, any email template, any document template! Additionally it is possible to choose from design templates for any product, or category, or content page. So different parts of the catalogue can be made look and feel different. There's a built in translation tool that can be used to change any system text, any message line. CMS allows for creation of landing pages too. Managing menus. Editing email content. Mixing custom content with links to products and other catalog elements is also possible. What are the benefits of it? First of all, it is the speed of change. When something needs changing, it can be done by the people involved in the business themselves. Or by the hired design or development team, very quickly and easily. It makes it so easy to move things forward with the online store. Then it is the level of flexibility and customisation. Everything is in the CMS this or that way. Nothing is hard coded. Everything is available in a very visual way, very easily accessibile via the back end. Finally, it is the ability to upgrade the website without affecting the content or design. It makes it possible to keep the code base up to date, and allows businesses concentrate on developing their growth instead of constantly fixing their online shops.
