darylbee Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 Hi there, i was using the admin panel in oscomm to update some security lapses, and i was prompted to enable http authentication by clicking a box that said "Protect With htaccess/htpasswd" and now the whole admin panel is down with a 404 error ideally i'd just like to undo what i did Thank you for any advice you may have for me!
Hotclutch Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 .htpasswd_oscommerce Cut and paste this file from your Admin folder to somewhere backed up. I believe that should allow you back in.
darylbee Posted January 27, 2022 Author Posted January 27, 2022 Hi @Hotclutch I've found this and copied it to a backup folder But It still gives me a 404 error to the link i was given to log into the admin on the store sitestore/catalogue/admin_fprre4k2y33/index.php apologies, I'm very much a novice at the inner workings of oscomm are you suggesting I remove this file or edit the code?
darylbee Posted January 27, 2022 Author Posted January 27, 2022 in the htacess file i noticed these lines: AuthType Basic AuthName "osCommerce Online Merchant Administration Tool" AuthUserFile******************************/store/catalogue/admin_fprre4k2y33/.htpasswd_oscommerce Require valid-user is this something related?
Hotclutch Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 https://store.workshopsupply.com/catalogue/admin_fprre4k2y33 This link works for me in that it asks for credentials. You may have to clear cache if there is a persistent redirect.
Hotclutch Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 You may want to rename your admin folder now since its comprised anyway.
darylbee Posted January 27, 2022 Author Posted January 27, 2022 ah right, I managed to get it to prompt for credentials, but it then just goes to a 404 error, saying the page doesn't exist
Hotclutch Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 When i click on the link you gave first, it redirects to https://www.store.workshopsupply.com/401.shtml You need to determine where that redirect is coming from, cannot say from here.
Jack_mcs Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 @darylbeeThe .htaccess and .htpasswd files work together when the option you mentioned is used so you also need to remove the ,haccess file. in admin Support Links: For Hire: Contact me for anything you need help with for your shop: upgrading, hosting, repairs, code written, etc. All of My Addons Get the latest versions of my addons Recommended SEO Addons

darylbee Posted January 27, 2022 Author Posted January 27, 2022 oh my goodness I think that did it. double checking....
darylbee Posted January 27, 2022 Author Posted January 27, 2022 I"m back in! Thank you so much for all your help! I'm still learning all the little quirks of oscomm, so this was very helpful thanks again!
