osCommerce

The e-commerce.

osCommerce v4 will support multiple languages and multiple currencies. Currencies are managed in the back end, under Settings / Localization / Currencies

Similar to how it was implemented in previous versions of osCommerce, it is possible to add new or manage existing currencies and set:

- currency symbol (left and / or right)
- decimal and thousand separator
- decimal digits
- the exchange rate against the default currency

Exchange rate can be updated manually or automatically (via Oanda).

HOWEVER, in osCommerce v4 there exists a new feature called Marketing Prices!

Marketing prices feature, when enabled (disabled by default), allows setting up custom product price in each currency. So, one and the same product can be $9.99, £8.99, and €9.95 not depending on the actual exchange rate!

More than that, with Marketing prices comes another wonderful solution called Rounding, something our Swiss customers, for example, will surely appreciate.

Rounding allows to set how marketing prices shall be rounded in the chosen currency, or how they should all be transformed. There exists an option to round all prices in the selected currency to 0.05 - meaning that 2.21 CHF will turn into 2.20 CHF and 19.93 CHF - into 19.95 CHF. Also to 0.10, or 0.00. There exists an option to set all decimals in all prices to 0.00, or 0.99, or 0.95.

This is a feature we have really looked for in other carts and always been disappointed that it did not exist.

One thing for sure that must be made sure of for us, is that there a separate google shopping/facebook catalog or whichever feeds, which account for the price to match exactly as shown on the website.

Hi there,

Will V4 support multi language, with hreflang tags? What about url rewrite? would it be part of the core or add on?

Cheers

It is possible to rewrite any product, category, CMS page url. And add seo redirects too. Anything else you'd like to add?

I hope you think about to put the values as full numeric and not decial separeted in the database (example 1.00 USD as 100 in database) this wil make calculation much easier and when it has to be displayed you have just once to do 100/100.

AND for shop owners who have prices like 0.00001 then its also possible, only thing thats needed a setting where shop owners can set the divisor like:

divisor 100 = 1USD, divisor 10 = 10USD, divisor 1000 = 0.10 USD (cents) and so on and so on, but most of all will make all money calculations much bettter and the rounding of amounts have to be done ONLY ONCE (is more accurate) at display time
