Zip Files Not Downloading

Recommended Posts

I am running version 2.3.4.1 and I am only selling digital downloads.

I have the entire checkout process working. After payment is made, the customer is redirected back to my web site and shown that the order is successful and the link is there for the download. However, clicking the download link has no results.

The public_html/catalog/download folder has the 755 permission...I have even tried 777 permission with no luck

The public_html/catalog/pub folder has the 777 permission...I have even tried 755 permission with no luck

The .zip files are in the public_html/catalog/download folder and the .zip files have the 644 permission setting

I have double checked that the .zip file names are identical in the public_html/catalog/download folder and the oscommerce catalog/product attributes

The oscommerce configuration/download settings are ---- Enable download = true  ....  Download by redirect = true

The oscommerce localization/order status settings are --- Pending (default) ✔  ✔ .... Processing ✔  ✔ .... Delivered    X .... PayPal [Transactions] X

The oscommerce modules/payment/PayPal Express Checkout settings --- Set Order Status = default .... PayPal Transaction Order Status Level = PayPal [Transactions]

In my PayPal account all Payments are listed as "Pending"

Obviously something is not right, but I cannot figure out what it is. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you entered the exact name of the file plus the file extension when setting up the product attribute. When it does not download I have found that it generally means that the file name is wrong, or the file you have linked to does not exist in the  downloads folder.

Thank you for responding!

Yes...the file name in Product Attributes is    tab_tools_and_temps.zip    which was copied and pasted from the file in the catalog/download folder. So, I am certain the file is in the catalog/download folder and that the names match.

I am still puzzled....

Unfortunately, I am still stuck on this.

This is probably going way out on a limb....is it possible that SSL is somehow interfering with the download after the PayPal transaction is complete? Doesn't really make sense that this would cause a problem. I am seeing the download link after purchase processing, so the download should happen.

I just don't know.

In your admin - configuration - downloads  what are your download settings. I take it you have downloads allowed.

Are you downloading by redirect or not. If you are downloading by redirect are the files transferring into the correct file before the download can be made.

Can you open any of the files from within your hosting panel.

Dont know quite what other help to give..

Admin>Configuration>Download settings are ---- Enable download = true  ...  Download by redirect = true (I have also changed this to 'false' with no luck)

I can go into cPanel on my web host site and find the .zip file in the public_html/catalog/download folder. When I double click on the .zip file it will download.

You mentioned - "If you are downloading by redirect are the files transferring into the correct file before the download can be made." I must admit, I am not sure what you mean by this.

Thanks for sticking with me on this....

There should be a new folder in the root folder of your store where the files are stored ready for download. The files to be downloaded should be in there with a funny name. Unless I am wrong.

I stopped using download by redirect ages ago as it caused too many problems.

But if you have tried without download direct then it should have worked if everything was set up correctly.

Thank you so much for your help, Steve.

I have found out the problem seems to be Google Chrome on this particular computer. When I switched to an old version of Internet Explorer, it works just fine. Also, when I tried Google Chrome on another computer, it works. It also seems to work with Microsoft Edge and Firefox. So, all this frustration seems to be coming from one specific web browser on this computer. Not sure why , but at least I know osCommerce and the downloads are actually working.

Thanks again -- I appreciate your patience and help
