Hi Ruden,

I have only come across your post about OSC 2.3.5 Vanilla. I have been using 2.3.4  since its introduction but due to inactivity and any core updates to keep it going, I have had to quit the platform and have crossed over to WordPress/WOO Commerce.

Waiting on V4 to arrive had cemented the decision to jump ship. However, looking at 2.3.5 and how much better it is, including speed has me thinking again.

My biggest concern is all the apps that make WP/WOO good, in particular pay modules, shipping etc. I know that some are not available in OSC, even from 2.3.4.

Can you advise what modules are pre-populated in the build and what can be done to others that are not.

I installed WooCommerce once and hated it, for its slowness, among other things. osCommerce has never had a problem with speed, even the outdated official versions. Speed usually goes out the window when webmasters start loading their big pics and poorly performing addons onto the core package. This will be the same with Vanilla osCommerce.

If you take the time to install the package you will see that there are no pre-populated modules. The same modules that come with osCommerce are there, apart from the one or two changes like recently viewed etc.

I would say this is a decent option for people to start from, or to migrate their out of date stores to. My first question was will SEO URLs work with this Vanilla osCommerce. I did manage to install FWR's USU5 onto it, albeit with some errors. Not sure how critical these errors are, but the test installation i have does run with it.

Why the added complication of Composer? That's enough to put me off right away! It is absolutely horrendous working with the behometh Magento where Composer just creates adds to the bloat and code complexity/maintenance.

As @Hotclutch has said poorly sized images are the biggest contributor to slow sites, though as the number of products/customers/orders increases to the thousands level, then the lack of correct database indexing comes into play.

@ruden I am running 2.3.2 and have jumped to 2.3.5 - so far so good!

I see the extra shipping modules are not in the repo, I am in the USA and looking for updated USPS shipping module

If I get the older addon working with php8 would you like the contribution?

I had the store working in gotgrit.com/catalog and then moved it to the top level http://gotgrit.com and now I am seeing this:

It was a browser cache issue!
