Change left column throughout osCommerce

Things are moving along at http://bloomfront.com/purchase/default.php. I'm not sure whether I should make the dhtml menu in the left column throughout the purchasing process -- it might tempt users to forget about the purchasing process, what do you think?

 

Another thing is that I used BK ReplaceEm v.2.0 to make the global change in all php files in my oscommerce directory, so that the dhtml menu appears. I think 67 files were modified. Here's the rub, BK ReplaceEm doesn't update the save date when it enters a file and Dreamweaver only FTP's newer files. I'm looking for a checkbox somewhere in both applications, so that I can actually upload the new files.

 

Here's are my questions: is this how osCommerce modifications go? One figures out a modification and then makes them in about 70 files? Does anyone have suggestions for the best way to go about making the global changes?
