url for category

Hi There

 

What is the url for a category?

 

Sometimes when I go to the url mydomain.com/catalog/default.php?cpath=21

 

it takes me to the default.php page and when I go into a product page and click the category name it takes me to the category product listing page. The url is the same for both... am I missing something
