product listings in tables question

I have a question about the product listing default.php.

 

I installed Shoppe Enhancement Controller v1.0b on 5-18 install.

 

When I am viewing product categories, the products are listed out row by row with alternating colors. I would rather have them gridded out three colums per row. In an earlier install I did this, but I don't know why this is the default here. Does the SEC controller have something to do with the way the layout is affected? Is there a way to change this?
