Hi everybody,

I did a little research on the core team members.

Here are the results:

Jan Zonjee December 29, 2014 1 hour ago
Stefan Kanitz March 15, 2018 Monday at 02:16 AM
tgely August 23 August 23

henri December 19, 2006 September 30, 2018
dabri May 28, 2018 March 14, 2008

As you will see Outside Bart all the other core members are inactive, they do not contribute to the community and I really do not understand why they remain core members when they seem more like a ghosts.

It is obvious that without the work of Burt, OSC was dead, so we must all thank Burt for his fantastic work.

It is time to take out the 7 ghosts mentioned above and replace them with new Core Team members.

What do you think?

Regards

Valqui

You're not being fair to Jan Zonjee who is a very active moderator here.  The others, with the exception of tgely, I don't even know who they are.

In any case it is a moot point....the only one who can decide who is or isn't a member of the team, is Harald.

Thank you Dan for sharing that information, sorry for the case.
Also Jan Zonjee can be an Ambassador, but as a core team (with all due respect) he is not. You Dan do an incredible job of moderation and you are not a core team ....

That is correct, but we as a community must propose options and replacements to the core team members to change the old members for new ones that will help Burt. Burt needs our support !! This is where we can influence as a united and undivided community !!

Best regards.

I admire your optimism.

There are really two separate developments going on here.  One is an authorized fork of osC.  That's the Phoenix development and is as you know run by Gary.   He is looking for financial support and perhaps code that will improve the core.  I don't think he is looking for team members but he may well hire developers for tasks that he just doesn't want to do himself.  Here again financial support would be most welcome.  None of this has anything to do with the core team that Harald has in place.

The other development is, of course, the one that Harald is engage in and that is Version 3.  Where he is with that or what help he might be looking for has not been stated.

These are two very different developments.  Clear as mud.

You are correct, he doesn't want to put a team together. I've asked him about this recently and offered to facilitate it getting a team of developers, marketers and administrators etc but he's tried to do it in the past and had no success.

I think its about time that we as forum members stopped being negative and stop trying to stir things up as some always seem to do. There are things that we all know that cannot be changed so we must stop trying to make those changes. If you were HPDL and you kept seeing this negativity and constant criticizing and complaining from some members of the forum, would you want to help. I wouldn't as some are very negative and very unappreciative with what they have and always want more. If HPDL is working on a newer version then good on him and we will all have to wait to see what is done. If the core team don't want to show up here that's their choice and again we must abide by their decision. We as forum members cannot change anything. Without the past work of those core team members we would not be using oscommerce so be appreciative of that.

We have to realise that things are as they are, and that they will not improve in the very near future, and we have to make the best with what we currently have available to us. We have to support this current activity or let it die. We have to start being positive and we all need to help where we can. We have to stop expecting others to do things for us and we all need to contribute in a way that we can.

If people are not happy with what they have, they can always go and fork the project and make the changes that they feel are required, or go and use something else. This was recently tried and failed dismally. Its not that easy to do, and there are many talkers and a few doers. People want the earth, want it now and will not help. The same happens here.

Gary has made his position perfectly clear in the past and that is his decision and we must accept it. We have to remember that without Gary this conversation would not be happening as there would be no oscommerce.

Rant over.

REMEMBER BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP

Not had any further info on this for some time now since his last statment that he was 100% focused on V3!

@Harald Ponce de Leon  are you able to give us any news on progres?

A beta version would be good to play with.

Hi @14steve14

Thank you so much for sharing your opinion.
I don't want you to think that I am negative, on the contrary I am VERY positive and just as a community we must be united to look for problems and propose solutions. What we should not do is accept things as they are or say that something cannot be changed. If we lose hope of improving, what is left?

I agree that Burt did and does an excellent job and that's exactly why we should help him. We need 2 or 3 more people to work with Burt and help him with the core. Is this a community edition or not?

Is not necessary for these new Core Team members to do everything. They can focus on a certain segment or they can work on the admin side (which is very outdated) by adding more features. There are several people who offered to help and participate, we have to accept that help !!!

But that depends on us !!! Let us get together and make our thoughts heard.

Best regards

Valqui
