♥JcMagpie
I remember having gzip option in 2.2a but it was not very stable from what I remember and I never used it. You should be able to use zip in your contol panel to zip the db. However these days space on servers is not big issue so I just backup uncompressed these days. This is an old one not sure if it still works. https://apps.oscommerce.com/gnI7U&gzip-not-an-option-when-using-backup-man
zpupster
TY JC, yes I think that was the one i was using. I did a backup from cPanel, which was easy enough. TY again, Z
MrPhil
If you need to download an unzipped backup file to your PC for storage, there are a number of PC tools (Windows) that can zip up a file to reduce its size, such as 7-Zip File Manager. Linux boxes have some compression tools, too.
zpupster
thanks for the advice guys. I am an old dog. I had an option with radio buttons that I have been using since we started oscomm, I was trying to stick with that. But, just as easy or easier to do it as suggested, in that I have not to add or modify code.
