cannuck1964 Posted June 27, 2003 Posted June 27, 2003 Hi there, I am always looking at the workboard, and see that some team members are always listed in taking on parts of the osc workboard projects. Why is it that only a few are listed here always.....seems you have lots of members, but that many of them are not involved in developement for the core project. What do the others do? If they are not working on core osc work, then why are they team members? As a team member, I think they have taken on the responsability of working on the osc project as is defined and not use the team membership name to further their own causes.... this is just a thought...and comment on the overall team philosiphy...if you are a team member, the primary work you are doing should be towards the milestones and not private endevours... cheers, Peter McGrath ----------------------------- See my Profile (click here) for more information and to contact me for professional osCommerce support that includes SEO development, custom development and security implementation
Harald Ponce de Leon Posted June 27, 2003 Posted June 27, 2003 Thanks for the concern, however I can only state that the shape of the current team is in 1A condition. A team does not only consist of developers - like other teams, we have different areas to focus on, such as developing, support, marketing, etc. Everyone in the team is assigned a task they do best - this is how we work together efficiently as a team. Because we are not a company, it is obvious that everyone, not only in the team, working on osCommerce does it for their own personal benefit. Which is correct - why work when you will not benefit from it? The reason why we're all here is that we all have a common goal to work towards. , osCommerce
cannuck1964 Posted June 27, 2003 Author Posted June 27, 2003 Hi Harald, A team does not only consist of developers - like other teams, we have different areas to focus on, such as developing, support, marketing, etc. this is quite true, and I agree whole heartedly....what I suggest, is on the team member tags, you associate each team members area with a description of there functions within the team....Thus when people have questions or concerns etc. they might send this to the appropriate person..... Because we are not a company, it is obvious that everyone, not only in the team, working on osCommerce does it for their own personal benefit. Which is correct - why work when you will not benefit from it? Of course this is the idea behind e-commerce....give benefits to all concerned....developers....shop owners and consumers...and I agree whole heartedly....my comments were not intended to start a nit picking thread....I was just wondering on this....and how it (the team) is set up.... The reason why we're all here is that we all have a common goal to work towards. that and I think we all love to design and code.. cheers Harald...
