I want to put a little structure in the images directory. Therefor i want to make some subdirs: Manufacturer, all the categories.

Default oscommerce puts all the files in /images.

How can I change this? Which file do I need to edit?

Thanks in advance.

Don't edit any files.

In the admin module where you insert the categories and the products, you just enter in the image textbox " Category-dir/Category-image.gif "

It fetches the right image from the DB.

Schaapje_blaat,

-= English version below =-

Martva.

I don't think you understand.

I want to put some structure in the images dir. When i look in the admin panel, I see this. (see image above).

The red lined location is the one I want to change.

Don't think this is possible through the option below that.

The option below can be just to get file from you local disk. The images then wil be placed in the default dir "/images ", but when you first upload the complete directory structure, and then in the textbox type for example: "notebooks/cat_notebook.gif" it puts that text in the db.

when an image is called, it first gets the default image dir (/shop/images/)

and then includes the rest of the dir (notebooks/cat_notebook.gif) behind it.

Except for only the directory structure, you also need to upload all the images with it.

I'm going to try it tonight.

I'll keep in touch.

You can upload the images in the different directory in Images file. Like for DVD you need to create a directory in images file named dvd then when you upload the product or add new product you need to create the same structure in your local computer and save the images manually in local computer. When you add this new product and you hit browse it will show you some thing like this depending on the directory you have your images in c:/some directory/shop/images/productcategory/some.gif

all you have to do is change / to after images which will look like this c:/some directory/shop/imagesproductcategory/some.gif this will save your image in the directory named productcategory. You also have to make this directory manually in your images folder.

We've been using FTP to upload our images into the catalog/images/ folder... We've got sub directories in that images directory for the pictures to be sorted in.

Then, we go into the phpmyadmin to assign the images to the products there..

I've working all night yesterday to get your suggestions to work.

The only thing that worked for me was the suggestion of nancy.

With all the other options I get a broken image.

But there must be an easier way to do this??

PS. I'm using MS1.

If you can do a mass upload (tab delimited format), then you can assign your pictures that way, also. When we have a ton of items to upload, we do it that way...

According to the wikiweb documentation of oscommerce this should work:

D:OSCimagescases/Aopen/case_aopen_a340a.jpg

The image case_aopen_a340a.jpg is already uploaded to the right diredtory on the server side.

But when I insert this image I get a broken image.

More odd is the fact that when I try to edit the product via the admin panel. I see this:

admin_array.jpg

It looks like it doesn't understand this and so puts the word "Array" into the db.
