But now i have problem getting past : http://localhost/catalog/install/install.php i fill in all details, although i am unsure about the following:- ############# 3. Please enter your database server information: Database Server The database server can be in the form of a hostname, such as db1.myserver.com, or as an IP address, such as 192.168.0.1. ############### I have tried using 'localhost or 127.0.0.1 for the above, but am unable to connect to mySQL database that i am running locally with apache. i receive the following error on the next page... """"""""""""""""" new Install Step 1: Database Import A test connection made to the database was NOT successful. The error message returned is: Access denied for user: '[email protected]' (Using password: YES) Please click on the Back graphic to review your database server settings. If you require help with your database server settings, please consult your hosting company. ################ i belive this is due to me not directing to databases correctly ..plz any help.... :wink: :

Under "Database Server" type in "localhost". Under "Username" type in "root". Leave the password field blank. Under "Database" type in the name of the database you previously created. Click "continue">click "continue" again - give it some time as it creates the tables in your database>click "continue" again>scroll to the bottom of the page and check the "Store sessions in the database" radio button>click continue. which gave me...... The database import was successful!
