bookseller Posted June 21, 2003 Posted June 21, 2003 Hi, i am working on a bookstore based on oscommerce. i am facing a particular problem with currency conversion, esp. with the difference betwen the buy rate and sale rate. we buy books in two currencies USD and indian ruppees. Books with USD price are converted at exchange rate of 50 Rs. to a dollar(fixed by government). whereas the market buy rate of a dollar is 45 Rs for a dollar. Now if add a item bought in dollar price say $10 (cost = Rs. 500), i have to put the coversion rate at Rs. 50 to dollar. But if i list items bought in indian currency say item costs 500 in Rs. Now, if the user opts to pay in dollar the billed amount will be $10, however because of market rate being 45 i will in effect get only Rs.450, a 10% discount. at present i have to overcharge either international or the domestic customer to get around the buy-sell difference in currencies. can anyone suggest any contribution if there is one or any method to get around this problem. thanks
