Padlock location...

This is not specifically an oscommerce post. :) Rather, an IE SSL question.

Anyway, I just set up my shared SSL for the admin and checkout process. Working like a charm... However, where is that silly padlock? I went ahead and connected to my paypal account too... no padlock there either.

The problem is with IE 5.x... there is no padlock showing up. However, using netscape 6, I got the padlock. I checked the IE Internet options, but couldn't find anything helpful such as "enable padlock". I know I have seen it before... just can't remember where exactly and I have no idea why it wouldn't be showing up now.

I tried searching google for a screenshot to point it to where it should be, but no luck there. Thanks you for any help. :) ( I am sure there is a simple explanation. )

You would think. ;) It is not there! I minimized the window and logged in to paypal to make sure it wasn't being hidden by my taskbar. Hmmm... I used to have a screenshot program somewhere... can't seem to find that either!

Same problem here. Pulling my hair out now. I'm running IE 6. SSL seems to be working i.e. I can reach the secure pages and the htpps: address shows up, but no padlock... If you succeed, please post a reply. I'll do likewise.

Not sure it is IE specific now.

I use a shared certificate from my ISP. My setup is as follows:

http://www.mydomain.com

https://sslrelay.com/orders.mydomain.com (orders being a sub-domain)

When I browse to https://sslrelay.com/orders.mydomain.com, no problem, padlock appears. But when I browse to say, My Account or Checkout, the padlock disappears.

Maybe something to do with my osC config? Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the PM...

Check these out, it worked for me. 1st clears the Alert Box, 2nd thread sorts out the padlock. As ever, make a backup of all your files. You'll need to apply the changes in the 2nd thread to all files that require SSL locking.

However, I really think this must be a bug in my IE version 5.0029. I found one bug in the 56 bit version that might be related, but not really sure as mine is 128 bit.

Anyway, I know it isn't my oscommerce set up, because I am having the same issue in IE when logging in to paypal. As an aside, I tested in compuserve and the padlock shows up there too. Anyway, I am not too worried about it... as I said, I checked the file properties and it confirmed the SSL connection, so I know it is working within oscommerce.

By the way, I have since found an image of what the bottom of the IE browser should look like... mine doesn't look like that. It is just a thin border. This is all very odd...

I presume you have the status bar showing with IE? Check by going to View>Status Bar and make sure it is ticked. If this bar doesn't show you will not see the padlock....
