Guest Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 My site www.brunsflooringsupply.com/catalog/default.php is running very slow. A load test shows that my home page is over 1mb! if I strip off all graphics, its still at 1mb. If I then strip my header, left and right boxes and the footer, and only display a simple form, it is over 100k. Any idea why this would be. It seems the scripts in osc are what is slowing my site down. I have gzip on and set to max compression, but it is making NO difference. I have searched the forums, but have not found anything on this, any suggestions?
Guest Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 That's what i dont understand kyle ....it loads fast here to (i'm on cable) and i just did another load test and it is still very slow !! The_Bear
Guest Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 It runs fine for anyone wih a cable connection or DSL, but I have had people on dial-up tell me is a pain to load... and I'm convinced its either the osc scripts or my ISP that is the problem. if you go into the product listings, does that load quick as well? I know it does from my side, but I am on DSL.
Guest Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 I've tried five or six times on my 600k conection its fine. Maybe its your ISP.
Guest Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 no offense Paddy, but if it took a long time to pull up on a 600k connection, then I would stop designing web pages, walk down to the river and throw myself in! Of course most of my customers aren't exactly the greatest computer users, they are carpet installers. I expect that the majority will be using 56k dial-up. But I wouldn't be suprised if my host is whats causing the slowdown, like having some sort of bandwidth throttling going.
mazza Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 ISDN and loaded pretty fast for me too. "Use no way as way, have no limitation as limitation." - Bruce Lee

Guest Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 Loads great for me on cable, and not too badly via 56K either.
Guest Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 Cyz ran a dial up test and said the result was ok. maybe its the tool that Pierre and I are using.. maybe its my web host. But everyone else here appears to agree that the site loads ok for them. Thank you all, the response has been great!
Guest Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 If it's slow but not that slow I'd rethink this animated gif..43k
Guest Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 Actually, at one point I stipped all graphics off the site and the tool still showed that it was slow. if you went to http://www.brunsflooringsupply.com/feedback.php there are no major graphics yet it said that it was 300 seconds to load on a 28.8k with 1.1mb of graphics. Go figure!
Guest Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 change that url to http://www.brunsflooringsupply.com/catalog...og/feedback.php I hate that we can't edit our posts
