Guest Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 Hi guys, A quick question from a potential customer in the UK (and I know it's like asking how a piece of string is.... :) ) what's the best "best" credit card clearing gateway for that neck of the woods. The customer is not happy about using Protec as they feel the fees are too high. Suggestions? Thanks! - Earl
emanresu Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 Hello Try Worldpay. They can be difficult but on the whole their product is used by a wide range of shopping carts. I also think they are part owned by one of the banks here in the UK. They can be contacted on +44 1223 715150 (You need ?50k in assets to get a Worldpay account so new companies are left behind) HTH Citizen of US Minor Outlying Islands
Draycir Posted June 29, 2003 Posted June 29, 2003 Hi, We are currently moving from Protx to WorldPay, due to the introduction of Protx's new minimum ?20 monthly charge. We are 90% the way through WorldPay authorisation and just need to do a live test. So far we have had no problems with WorldPay, but it can be difficult to get to talk to the right person in the right department (since they have so many people/departments). WorldPay is owned by Royal Bank of Scotland. Robert.
Floob Posted June 29, 2003 Posted June 29, 2003 Not sure about the 50k asset requirement from Worldpay - we started with them with about 2k in assets. Worldpay are good for startups - its often a cheaper startup option. Be aware of 4.5% on Credit Cards and the fact they hold your money for 4 weeks plus clearing. 2 weeks plus clearing if you manage to give them enough hassle. This is still pretty bad though, and we moved to Protx (I really don't think anyone is cheaper), and they are pretty good. I think secpay.co.uk is also pretty good.
