johnnyo Posted June 12, 2003 Posted June 12, 2003 I've installed several MS installs of the latest release they work great. Then I've installed several of the latest snapshot can't get any of them to work. The config files have the exact same paths minus the admin. This is the path I get in the browser when customer login: http://www.techrealms.com/automation_catal...vices/login.php Something is wrong somewhere but I can hardly spell PHP so I don't have a clue as what it might be. Any Ideas John
Guest Posted June 14, 2003 Posted June 14, 2003 First of all, the snap shots are "works in progress." If you read the information on osc's page for the snapshots, you will notice that it states, and not directly, that you should use them at your own risk. I am not saying that they are "crap" but, the people creating the upgrades, and they do work hard, are testing the updates. Call it a beta upgrade if you will. Being that I am not a novice in PHP, I wouldn't use them only to save myself the frustration. As always, it is a GREAT idea to save backup copies of the files you are changing, just in case there are any issues later. Rename them, move them...whatever. When you say The config files have the exact same paths minus the admin. This is the path I get in the browser when customer login: do you mean that it was there and now it is gone? That might be a place to start.
johnnyo Posted June 14, 2003 Author Posted June 14, 2003 I am and have been aware of the additional risks involved in installing and using the latest snapshots. Anyway, last nite at about 4am I realized I had admin defines in my catalogs/include/configure file. I started thinking why would these defines be here, well as it turns out, and you probably already know they shouldn't be there. My config files were identical in catalog/includes and catalog/admin/includes which explained why my path in the browser was doubling up. How I managed to do this I have no idea other than I'm using 4 oscommerces sharing some tables and when I went to install these quickly by ftping the config and database tables file I had modified I may have grabed the wrong config file (4 times I might add), unfortunantely I'm capable of much more than this working on this stuff until the birds start singing. Thanks, John
