kalseru Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 At Step 2 of osCommerce (New Install) Configuration I get the following message : The following error has occurred: The configuration files do not exist, or permission levels are not set. I am installing from Windows XP so the following is suggested: If you are running this installation procedure under a Microsoft Windows environment, try renaming the existing configuration file so a new file can be created. However this does not work - what should I try next as I can get no further with the installation.
Peterthecomputerguy Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 Andy, I just got past this one, so I'll tell you what I found - There are 2 "configure" files, one in admin, one in catalog and changing both of them (on the server, not your computer) worked for me. You can usually find a "rename a file" or "change file name" function in the ftp program. Hope that helps.
kalseru Posted June 11, 2003 Author Posted June 11, 2003 Thanks Peter, Even renaming the config files didn't work for me. In the end I had to change the permissions on these 2 files with an FTP program and then change them back again once everything was installed. All seems a bit longwinded! Andy
