man1c Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 I have just installed oscommerce, but every time I try to update any setting in the admin panel i.e. store name the server returns the following error You don't have permission to access /users/jayceedp/admin/configuration.php on this server. I have changed the cmod values of this file to 777 but still nothing i am also getting the same error if i try to create a user any ideas?
Madinson Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 hm. Have you tried to compare the configure.php at catalog/includes with the one at admin/includes???? Are there the right definitions??? just create...and sell..sell...sell.....
man1c Posted June 10, 2003 Author Posted June 10, 2003 Yep I have compared the 2 files and all seems ok I made a slight mistake b4 the error i get when creating a user is Forbidden You don't have permission to access /users/jayceedp/create_account_process.php on this server. It seems like every time I try to write any file from the web side I get a forbidden error
orchard Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 Have you checked the permissions of the directory too? Have you checked that the permissions are really changing? If you aren't the official owner of the file you can't change the permissions. On my store, files created or upload using osCommerce are owned by "nobody" instead of by me. To change their permissions I have to have osCommerce do it, by calling chmod from somewhere in the PHP code. In olden times the men were made of iron and the ships were made of wood; now it's the other way around.
man1c Posted June 10, 2003 Author Posted June 10, 2003 yup I have changed all the folder permisions to 777 also
joekilo Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 can someone tell me how to check my permissions if already installed as i keep getting therror telling me to change them and i havent yet jk
Madinson Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 try for example the ftp-client smart ftp....with a right-click you can see the status of the files on your server. http://www.smartftp.com/ just create...and sell..sell...sell.....
