♥monte22 Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 Is it possible to upgrade the current MS1 to MS2 when it comes out? This may be a stupid question, but I am quite new to OSC. If an upgrade is possible, would I lose all my customizations to my MS1 site? James
Kristofor Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 yep you would loose them, usually the only thing you can save is your database Don't die with the music in you!!! Failure is just another boundary to sucess!!! But that doesn't mean your getting somewhere...
orchard Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 Hopefully you can merge your customizations using a directory and file compare tool like BeyondCompare. It lets you compare directories or files and copy files or lines from one to the other. In olden times the men were made of iron and the ships were made of wood; now it's the other way around.
♥monte22 Posted June 10, 2003 Author Posted June 10, 2003 I really havent done a whole lot to the site yet, just a bunch of cosmetic changes. Would it be worth it to to do the upgrade? I mean will more contributions be available for MS2 as opposed to MS1? James
Guest Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 James, When the MS2 is first relesed, I would expect there will be quite a few "broken" contributions because of the code changes being made. JMHO, I would wait do to the upgrade until all of the features I wanted/needed had also been upgraded to work with the MS2.
♥monte22 Posted June 10, 2003 Author Posted June 10, 2003 OK. Does anyone know the actual difference between the two? I mean if I get my shop completely done with all the contributions I wanted, would it be worth going back, redoing it with MS2?
Guest Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 There are a couple of things you can do to see what's happening as far as changes go.......Take a look at the workboard to see the overall progress, subscribe to the committs mailing list to get the committs as they are added and look at the daily snapshot.
